collapsible basket?

1950 Views 6 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  William9_17
Does anyone know of a collapsible basket that goes on top of the rear rack? I know they have pannier style ones, but they hit my feet.

Right now I have a big wire basket on top of the rack, but it gets in the way of some bike racks (the clam shell kind), and of a tag-along trailer.

I'm looking for a basket that has sides that fold down to the side of the back wheel, or somehow folds flat. Any ideas?

Thanks

I know there's one from Topeak...It's called TrolleyTote Folding MTX Rear Basket. It's the only one I've seen and it looks pretty cool. I'm not sure if that's what you're talking about though.

Do you already have a set of the pannier baskets? You can mount them further back on your rack to clear your feet. It does make for kind of whippy handling, sometimes, but it works. What kind of bike? A 'cross or touring bike will typically have longer chainstays, either for tire clearance or to move the rack further back relative to the rider's heels and the wheel further back relative to the rack.

No prob Pog...I love topeak they're a great company...What kind of Surly do you have? Mind if I make a suggestion? They have a great rack for commuting that also comes with a U Lock and dock for it. I'll post a pic. It's called the OS Tubular Rack with U Lock
