We've added two calculators for determining the rate of an unidentified coil spring.
They work on Steel or Titanium springs. Forks, shocks, cars etc. But you have to select the right material.

The simple calculator takes the material (steel or titanium), wire diameter, inside spring diameter and number of coils that are free to move.
It gives you the rate in lb/in:
Cost is $NZD5 which is about $US2.82 for international customers.

This one is great for springs where the numbers rubbed off or were never put there by the manufacturer.

The detailed calculator takes the same inputs plus desired stroke.

It gives you the rate in lb/in, the material stress and spring force at desired stroke and maximum stroke (to coil bind)
Cost is $NZD10 which is about $US5.65 for international customers.

This one is really handy for putting springs into non-standard applications where you don't know if the stroke will work.
