I been reading the Mountain Bike training bible and have gotten pretty much overwhelmed by the detail. The next step was to get involved with a coach who i can work with to better understand training smarter and correctly. Currently I am a CAT2 and have aspirations to getting to the top of CAT2 and into CAT1.

Basically looking for a starting point as to where the best way to go about this. There are so many online coaching programs that appear to be rather impersonal, I would rather have the option to have an actual conversation with an individual.

I coach mtbers on the phone and and online. I'd be happy to help you with this seasons goals. I currently coach a few cat 2 and cat 1 racers over the phone and in person. PM me or contact me through my website and we can touch base by phone.

I looked at your profile and I believe you're in OC, California. Should be able to find tons of local coaches there. Ask around at some of your local cycling clubs.

In my little town in Utah, there's 2 coaches (1 certified) few blocks from my house.

The nice thing about having a close cycling coach is easy access to bike testing, bike fitting (if they're into that), and having the occasional instructional ride.

But each coach determines what kind of service they give you for your money.
