If you ask your LBS to swap the clipless for a set of platform pedals, most will certainly oblige you that request. If they don't, just buy a set of $20 platforms and save the clipless for later when you are ready to use them. But if you don't want the clipless, ask your shop to put platforms on for you... most will do it without hassle because the clipless are worth more than most platforms, so the shop will be making out for doing it. But that is also why I would suggest you just buy a set of cheaper platforms and save the clipless for later, since they are probably going to be worth more and cost you more to upgrade later. The other side of that is that when you go clipless (if that time comes) you may want to use some pedal other than Shimano pedals, meaning the OEM pedals won't matter to you anyways.algae said:All the models above the Tassajara in the Genesis hardtails come equipped with clipless pedals. I was originally interested in the ZR9000 frame and better components, but I'm not ready to deal with the pedals. What are my options? What will it add to the cost of the bike to back up to platform pedals? ...is it worth the effort and expense?
