I'm thinking about building a repair stand. I've pretty well got the basic design down using some pipe. Just not sure how to handle the clamp part. I know clamping on the seat tube is the safest way to go since I have an aluminum frame, but I also realize that i'll need more clamping power to hold it that way. Sure I could pickup a used one on Ebay pretty cheap, but whats the fun in that. Any ideas? Thanks!

I made a stand many years ago...the clamp was a pair of Vice Grips with some angle iron welded to the jaws and some rubber padding. Ugly as hell and worked great. I still have it but I have moved on to a portable Park stand.

Have fun
