CC - Those are the 661 Tomcats. Very comfortable and stay in place. I coupled them with the veggie shin guards.

I was not of fan of the polished rear ends but the clear ano on the new bikes is a much different story. I think they look really sharp.

thats exatly what i was lookin at on their site and in my qbp book here at home this fine xmass mornin. any advantage to this set up vs the full length plastic stuff like the race set yer buddy is runnin? im kinda new to all this fr gear but ive owned dainese dh armor for many years. thanx pal.

and yes. that bike is the friggin shite! sooooooooooo sexy! makes green a viable option again.

edit: maybe i should add that i clip in. flats dont work very well for me but perhaps i should try again once (if) i start tryin harder to get bigger air.

Its the same stuff we used to use for Bmx 15 years ago, for the most part.

The harder plastic stuff is a lot less comfortable and doesn't flex or breath much. However the stuff offers better impact portection from jagged rocks and really hard hits

Shin guards should have steel strips inside to portect from pedals. Especially if you are using paltforms. I use Brooklyn Machine Works Shin Burgers. Yes I am twisted!!

The thinner stuff is more comfortable but you give up some protection

Hey superstock
Is that you on page 50 of the Feb. MBA, riding the blue 5 spot?
Sorry, out of town for a bit....

I haven't seen the new issue but I did shoot with MBA on my blue spot so it likely is me. The location was the same as the pics in this thread. Post the shot if you have scanner!

They used one other shot from that day although its tough to tell its a spot:

Thanks,

I had the earlier version of these and the knee portion was a bit uncomfortable when climbing and they were a bit hot. It looks like they've fixed both those problems with the cupped out knee and the more breathable material. The coolest thing about these pads is that they wrap around you leg so you don't need to take off your shoes to put them on and off. You can also wrap them around you top tube when climbing. These would be a good balance in between the light duty neoprene and the full on plastic guards.

I like using the neoprene for trail riding and then full plastic for DH. BTW, the neoprene shin guards I'm wearing above do have a plastic strip down the center of the shin and protect the entire back part of your leg so they would protect pretty good against slipped pedals.

I finally got the Feb issue and got to see the shot. Did the knee pads give it away?

I got the homer jersey shortly after we shot this. Gotta get that in the magazine sometime ...
