Chris king ring drive lube

I use a waterproof grease in the winter, their lube in the summer. Not had any adverse affects from either, in fact I've used heavier grease in the ring drive to quiet it down a bit, works fine, although this in a well broken in hub.

You are spot on, just take a tiny amount of good grease, maybe not lithium, but something good else, a dab of oil, -have some green finishline, real heavy stuff, and dab in onto the ring-drive, sorted.
The same goes for the inside bearing in the cassette hub, i never had a problem so far!
And for the larger bearing, i use some finish line ceramic.

Conversely, I've had a bottle of Ring Drive Lube for a couple of years and am still using it. I'll pull the hub apart a couple times per season for a clean and lube. Mostly unnecessary but it gives me peace of mind.

I guess what I'm trying to say is the $10 bottle lasts quite a while...

Thanks for that info. Ill probably just go ahead and order some, I am going to order new seals from CK (and maybe the hub tool as well, if i can talk my wife into it...) so ill throw some lube in with the order.

Price isnt an issue (if you can't afford $10 you probably shouldn't be riding a $800 wheelset), its more the hassle of ordering it if I already had something at home i could use. But, since im placing an order anyway, ill go ahead and get some.

For the hub bearings and headset bearings I've used a few different good bearing greases (a few different kinds, my current fav is the Web Grease from RnR), but for the rear hub's ring drive have always just used their grease (and I use their stuff on my DT 240s too). That little bottle does go a long ways and the applicator is just right for the job, so whatever's handy really.

I bought my bottle with my hub tool several years ago, still working on it. I also stocked up on a few seals, bearings and even a steel driveshell while I was at it (directly from King). Man they're a lot more expensive now! Glad I stocked up when I did. Not that I really needed all the supplies, but have used some of them (have yet to install that steel driveshell, though). No wife to ask, though.
