I need a part of a Chris King NoThreadset. I need the ring (Crown race, right?) that goes on the fork, the one you need to pound on. Is it this part that I need?

Is a crown race for a Chris King NoThreadset the same always? I'm not sure what year mine is, I bought it last week so I assume it's an '06. Is the crown race year specific?

I don't think the base plate has changed at all in the last few years. I have been using King headsets since '02 and they all look the same to me.

if you need to get that base plate, try these guys. They carry all things King .

They are very helpful.
Well Chris King sells them direct, I jsut want to make sure I get the right part before I order.

Looks like what you need. Call them (Chris King) as they recommend on the web page and ask them what you need according to what fork you are using. I have Chris King on my GT Tequestas and they have been great. (Cane Creek is what came on my Obed, and that one is fine too). -GT2005 :)

NO!

Depending on how old your headset is it could be different! Look for a small diamond shape etched into the outside surface of your bearing cap. Inside that diamond will be either a 'B' or an 'F'. If it's a 'B' it's the new style and you will be fine, if it's an 'F' you have to get the old style crown race / baseplate. I believe Bikeman sells the old style as well as new:
