Choosing Between Bikes At Competiing Local Bike Shops!!

859 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Hardtails Are Better
I am getting into mountain biking and have narrowed my decision down to a Gary Fisher Wahoo Disc for $499
http://www.fisherbikes.com/bikes/bike_detail.asp?series=trail-genesis&bike=Wahoo_Disc
and a Giant Yukon for $470
http://www.giant-bicycles.com/us/030.000.000/030.000.006.asp?model=11390

Which one of these bikes is better as far as quality components go? The Yukon has the Shimano Deores, but the Wahoo disc seems to have a better quality fork.

....and by the way, I don't want to buy an Ibex so I don't want a link to their online shop.

Hey Dogonfr, I think your reputation is preceeding you!!!

Honestly I think they're pretty much on par with each other. Either fork will work about the same in that range of bike. If I had to pick one I would personally lean toward the Giant in this case. In the end I would buy the one that feels better when you ride it and hopefully has the better shop standing behind it. Hopefully meaning the better feeling bike is at the better of the 2 shops.

It is almost a wash, the giant apears to have a slight upper hand. You definatly want to test ride the GF because the TT is longer by over a inch. If your all arms you will probibly find the GF your style. :D

It's a close call, make your decission by riding both bikes and seeing which one feels better to you.
Components are about the same quality, but unless you are proportioned like a monkey you'll probably be more comfortable on the Giant.
