Howdy:

I'm curious if anyone has any beta on the Chikamin Ridge Epic or Pot Peak conditions? Or any other high country epics that are typically questionable this time of year?

As of last weekend, the Wenatchee ranger station reported lots of blowdowns and snow on the Mad lake trail. Apparently upper Chikamin is still closed to ORV's, but that might be more an indication of mud and concerns about possible trail damage.

Any insight is much appreciated!

Thanks!

Pot Peak Trail has been maintained 6 miles according to the latest FS current conditionms report, which is due to be updated soon--- http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/wenatchee/recreate/reports.html I bet Pot Peak trail is snowfree but there might still be a little on Devil's Backbone on the shady side of the ridge yet...
I just called the Entiat Ranger station regarding the seasonal closure of the Upper Mad River, Upper Chikamin trails and wether or not the closure would be lifted this weekend (July 15) like it normally is. The person there said she didn't know, the only one who knew wasn't there today and I could call back tomorrow and ask. Actually I know who this Ranger is, I've talked to him before, so I just sent him an e-mail asking him to let me know. I'll post his response to the Forum when I get it, should be tomorrow.

I saw some pictures taken from Duncan Hill the other day. Pyramid still had a little snow, so did Duncan. They should be snowfree by next weekend. Maintained is another thing...

2 weeks ago they all had snow

2 wks ago they all had snow including Lake Creek. We could see Devil's Backbone having snow on the north side and probably across the top but I think that would all be gone. Lake Creek would be clear now. If not I would do it anyway because there wouldn't be much snow walking at all. We did it on the 4th and there was plenty of snow but still worth it. 4th Divide I think will be close to clear and probably snow free now but wouldn't have been passable 2 wks ago. Duncan Hill would be clear enough to ride with a touch on the northwest side. Pyramid would have a touch but may still be doable.

No idea on Chikamin.
