Does anyone else out there think it would be freaking awesome if SC released a carbon lizard? I love the geo. of this bike, and building a lightweight aggro hardtail would be wicked.

Unfortunately, it's tough to build an uberlight bike with the current model.

Discuss.

I have been dreaming about that for a while. Apparently the guys over at on one are going to offer a carbon 456. So, maybe if those become popular we'll see if sc follows suit.
Let's go all the way:

a carbon, 29er, lizard!

I don't think there would be much weight savings at all, at least enough to make difference.
It'll be a good choice to bring a light/strong carbon rigid bike but a Chameloen ???

With a possible 160mm front suspension with jumping capabilities ????
If it's as tough, stiff and responsive as my current chameleon I'd love one. Not sure it would be light enough to make the cost difference worth while though.
no so sure about that; my Chameleon (previous gen, not current) is somewhat of a boat anchor. Strong and stiff as hell, but heavy for an Al hardtail. I'm sure there would be a significant weight savings.

Also, I guess my use differs from some... I use it as my XC hardtail with a 120mm fork. I just love the handling and comfort on steep stuff.

cheers

I dont see why a carbon chameleon couldnt drop at least a pound and give the bike a smoother ride
I'm pretty sure I'd not be in for it. I'm trying to get the rider weight down first! Anyway, I have a 2009 Chameleon and I don't have any super light components...SLX & XT with mid-range easton bars, stem, seatpost. It's about 27 lbs. My main thing about the carbon is that I wanted a lizard for it's diverse character and ability to take abuse. I know I'm going to crash from time to time and I'd constantly be worrying if the carbon was going to make it through. I think for some, a carbon version would be really sweet, but for guys like me, the AL is just perfect.
