Hi
I am just getting components together for my new chameleon. I thought about an 04 talas and mavic 717 wheels - (partly because i have these lying about from an old bike)

I want to set it up for aggressive trailriding (up to 5ft drops, rockgardens etc.)

alternatives would be a vanila or '04 Z1 (130)

any experience with a talas on the chameleon ? would a coil shock be better suited and how do the 717 rims hold up on a stiffish hardtail?

opinions and experiences appreciated - thanks

I have Chameleon with a TALAS, as a single speed. Great for trail riding (can't speak to big drops and jumps). The lock out is key for the single speed as one can stand and climb. Also have the adjustable travel, is something I actually use as Climbing at 130mm is tougher due the slack head angle. I use 80-100 for climbing, about 100 -110 for the trails and 130 when I going down big time. More of a geometry change than caring about available travel.
