I have a 2018 Fuel EX 7 with a handful of rides on it. Noticed a nice chip near the chainring while cleaning her the other day. Any ideas how this could have happened? I do normal trail riding and nothing crazy and can't figure out what the cause is! Bicycle part Bicycle chain Bicycle drivetrain part Crankset Iron

I put some 3M rubber tape at this spot to protect the frame from chain slap.
I wrap that whole arm of the chainstay in an old tube, been doing it on every bike for years. Chain slap wear on a chainstay is one of the things people look at to gauge use of a used bike, having a pristine one goes a long way for some buyers. :D
