I've had occasional chain suck on my El Saltamontes when shifting down from the middle to small chain ring. Everything on the drive train has less than 700 miles on it, well maintained and lubed. It does not happen all the time and is not associated with wet or mud, but it does seem to be associated with rear suspension compression. Anybody else experience this or have a suggested solution?

I would check for small burs and possibley bent teeth on the middle ring. File off any sharp spots/burs, bent teeth are a little tougher, they might break when you try to straighten them. Also, clean and lube the chain well and look for tight links. That's all I got. -t
