Shifting under load be the problem.

Chains and gears aren't designed for it. Shifting under load is an at your own risk activity. yeah, lost of people do it, and some might have advise about how to set up so underload shifts go off better, but it's still a risky proposition.

You can still shift mid-climb with a little practice, just soft pedal for about 1 revolution until the derailleur makes the shift. For short high intensity climbs definitely make sure you're geared right before you start.

i try to use momentum up the climb with a high gear , then whet it starts getting harder i try to down shift...but yeah makes sense its all timing, this is the only time I've had this problem, thanks
