Hello all
Is there any difference btw CL hub and 6 bolts hub in term of ride quality?
Thank you

You're teeth will be whiter, you'll get laid more and you'll live happily ever after if you buy Shimano centerlock technology. But it won't make a difference to the ride.
It depends on the bearings.

What hubs are you comparing? And why?

Your question is too broad to answer accurately. Please re-word question.
The difference could be a few grams of weight savings. That may or may not improve your ride quality.

As an example; the Shimano CL rotor and lock ring weighs almost exactly the same as the 6 bolt rotor and bolts (~140g) If we were to use a DT 240s rear hub in our example we would save about 15g using the CL setup over the 6bolt hub (DT 240s 6bolt is 273g, DT 240s CL is 258g)

So in summary, the advantages to the Shimano CL system would be slightly lower weight and easier removal of the rotor.
How about trail-side repairs? Wouldn't a CL hub/rotor combo require heavier tools to remove a bent or tacoed rotor vs a Torx tool?
How often does that happen?

I am a fan of being prepared, but come on. I can understand needing a tool to be able to tighten the bolts/CL ring, but how often are there issues?

How many times have you seen a rotor so tacoed that you have to remove it instead of truing it by haand?
Good point. But I have seen a rotor that was bent so bad

that removal was require to finish the ride.

I don't think you'll notice any difference. (Bikin - that was great! HAHAHA!)

If anything i'd do a search in the brake's forum to see about any concern's with compatibility. I remember reading about using CL with Avid BB7's and things not working out. I think the solution was to get a CL adaptor and run that.... basically removing the CL feature altogether.

Check it out.
Disadvantages of centerlock rotors - hubs
1. rotors are hard to find in some areas, you can get 6 bolts anywhere

2 . only 160 and 203mm rotor options. ASAIK nobody makes 180 mm centerlock rotors.

3. Weight XT and saint hubs are heavy. My Saint 20mm hub/rotor combo was at least 100g more than a Bulb/6 bolt rotor combo.
I have both and I cant tell the difference between two system and so as my friends that do racing in XC and DH.
