CB Joplin post issues (4" version)

I am having issues with my post returning, it seems after no more than 2-3 months I have to pull the bugger apart, regas/reoil everything (which is a real PITA to do), is this just a **** post? I have to admit, it's the best TYPE of product I've bought for my bike, but I am not so sure as to whether it was actually the best make/model.

Basically, when it has ANY air in it, and the release button is depressed and then released, the main valve at the top of the post leaks rather quickly, it is definitely an audible leak. This only starts to happen once I cycle the air/oil through a number of times (I.e. > 10). There is evidence of this continual leak in the area over the weeks/months with a sludgy/oil buildup present.

Now, I must admit that I am using thin oil (5wt) as opposed to whatever is recommended, but I really don't think that this was be the cause. I think I may have to return it.

Can anyone confirm if I would have to return it? Considering dumping it eventually and trying something else if it continues to stuff up.

Research, research

Why don't you do a search and figure it out for yourself???? Chainlove is selling them brand new for $139 and I still would not buy it........
^^why dont you-
chainlove has never sold the crank bros 4 inch for $139 ever- not once- they did have the 3 inch- however they made many changes going to the 4 inch-
I sent my Junklin back and it works all right now.The reverb is a much better post.Nearly flawless.
That's not the point......

Read the reviews.....it could be free and I would not buy one.....

Stick to Reverb, KS or GD.

My joplin is actually off at their service department right now awaiting service for a leaky top seal similar to what you are experiencing. Mine would hold air and work till you cycled the seat post then it would slowly leak over a few hours till it lost all pressure and would stay in the down position. Leaked oil all down my seat tube. Can't complain though got it pretty cheap and it worked good for 8 months till it took a crap. Lucky enough though it was still under warranty
Save yourself the grief...

I'm surprised CB can still sell enough Joplins after all the bad press to justify production. I owned one for few weeks cuz it came on a bike I bought, so I rode it while I waited for a backordered KS.
My prediction: you WILL send it back, CB WILL fix it, it WILL fail you again at the worst possible times (repeat last three a few times), you WILL sell it at a loss to some other sucker, you WILL be happy you did. My advice: rip the bandaid off fast. Just my 2 cents, sorry.
What a bummer!

I bought it May '10 so still under warranty (just). Let's see what CRC have to say!
