October 23rd 7:30 a.m. to 12:00. This will be the 3rd trail event for building the new section on CG Mountain. Lunch will be sponsored by eegee's. Bring water and sun protection. Sign up here www.cgmountaintrails.org .
Asking for help again. Never done trail work? Give it a try. No experience with a pick or rake? It's easy to learn. eegees is providing food, the City of Casa Grande will provide tools. Good idea to bring your own gloves. Good hiking shoes recomended lots of Cholla. But don't fret I'll pull out any Cholla tines you get. Focus is to make the trailbuilding days a fun, productive, and rewarding day.
Bring your bike and ride after the event. I'll be to tired but there has been a couple guys riding after working.
Hope to see ya there! :D

ooooo...eegee's. if I didn't have to work I'd be there!
Hey you got to pay the bills. I'll still try and tempt you on later trail events.
On another note, it's good to see local business step up and support the trails. You would expect the bike shop owner to be there. Matt at Round Trip Bike Shop has gone above and beyond. He's on the trail commitee, has been a trail crew leader, does trail maintance, and is the event coordinator for Oct. 23rd. He's only been there 2 years and has already put new life into local cycling. eegee's has only been open in Casa Grande for 3 months and has jumped right in to support the new trail system. Gues this is a plug but hey, they support us we can support them.
Still plenty of time to sign up. Thanks for reading. On my way to eegee's for lunch!

Directions

Thanks to all that have signed up. You will be getting directions via email. If you still want to sign on there's still room. If you just want to show up please feel free to do so, check out the trail, trailbuilding, or just eegee's. The event will be run from the planned new trailhead on the east side of CG mountain on Arica rd.

Directions: Exit 200 Sunland Gin Rd. from Phoenix/Chandler go right, from Tucson go left. First right is Arica rd. it will be after the truck stop. Follow Arica rd. and when you reach the unpaved area you will see signs posted.

Hope to see you there. Find me and introduce yourself. Thanks!

Thanks cgcharlie, your check is in the mail.

CG mountain currently has a network if trails that are on a mix of city, private, and military land. Most of that trail is on the lower portions if the mountain and in the basin areas. The new trail is higher up on the mountain and is exclusively on city property. What that means is that the city will now support and maintain the trail system which is great for all of us.

The original trails where built and maintained primarily by mountain bikers. We would like to keep that tradition alive and have cyclists build up the new sections of trail and help make a great trail system better.

You can do iiiiiit!!

There's still time to sign up if you haven't done so already. Eegee's will be providing lunch for all those who help build the trails on CG mountain and become part of history. It's not often one gets a chance to be a part of actually building new trails. It's an exciting time for Casa Grande and our trail system on the mountain. This fall should see the first leg done done and connected from end to end. So sign up today for a great rewarding experience you will be able to tell your friends and family about.

Glad you enjoyed them! Another build day coming up Dec. 11. Plenty of room for more volunteers. Come on out we need the help!
Got a race in the McDowells that day...You guys might be close enough to appreciate the AZT Jamboree, a charity ride we have down in southern Tucson.

BTW, I met Phil out there grooming the trail, talked to him a bit. Pretty amazing how much work he puts out there on a weekly basis.

That's great you met Phil. Not only is he tireless in grooming and building the trails he's a great rider, fun to ride with and a great person.
We'll keep info on the new trail updated. There's a chance it may be connected this spring.
