Are carbon wheels a popular option for gravel bikes?

I am a bit worried in particular about rock strikes, hence why I am using a pair of heavy but solid alloy rims that can take alot of punishment.

But my gravel bike is so slow on climbs (except if you compare it against how slow mountainbikes are on climbs though) that I am thinking of upgrading some components (like the wheels).

As long as your tires are bigger than your rims it doesnt really matter, and most carbon handles strikes better than most aluminum .

I bought a set of carbon wheels a couple of years ago with the intent of using them for cross/ gravel racing mainly. I used them straight for that time and have ridden pretty much everything on these wheels. Really surprised on how well these wheels have held up, no dings, or scratches and still run completely true. BTW, they are some cheap, $430 Chinese carbon wheels that I bought off of ebay.
