Carbon Frame Repair - Walnut Creek Area

995 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  ExhaustedDog
Whilst about to heave my bike over the new "FUMTBers" barrier at the pullout parking at Crockett I tripped and my bike hit...something, but the subsequent pop/crack sound sent me into a swearing fit that drew the attention of several others.

Does anyone have recommendations on a good local carbon frame repair shop that can also do paint? I have some free time this and I'm willing to travel in an extended area (I saw one place near Monterey that looked promising). I want to avoid boxing/shipping it.

Thanks in advance.

What's the bike and how extensive is the damage?

Optionally, contact the manufacturer and see if they will replace with some level of discount..
Frank at Spyder Composites does not necessarily have the best...how should I put this....customer service oriented demeanor, but he's a good dude and if you just care about outstanding work at a very fair price, he did some outstanding repairs for me and a couple buddies - just don't talk about...well just don't talk about anything and let him fix your bike

Thank you for the suggestion; I decided to have them repair the frame. You were right about talking to them, but honestly I was in and out for the drop off in about 2 minutes. Straight to the point and effective communicators and no fluff. I appreciate professionals who tell it like it is. They were also much more cost effective than other quotes I received and said it would take around a week for repair and paint restoration.

Once the repair is done I'll take a celebration lap down Flow Trail since it's right next door.
