I cracked my frame today and wondered if anyone has experience with carbon repair on the front range. Its possible SC may not have any Gen 2 Nomad C rears left. If that's the case options are limited.

Any thoughts on general on carbon repair and if you've had experience with someone here on the front range?

Thankfully I haven't had to use it, but I know a few people who have had Brady Kappius (Kappius Components) repair their frames. Located in Boulder up by the Boulder Res now I believe.

Broken Carbon

I've been running a set of their carbon rims, and when I had a couple issues Brady was super knowledgeable and helpful. I would start with them.

That's a great start, thanks.

I hope this thread has info I will never have to use but please let us know what you think when the work is complete.

How did you crack the frame?
I noticed it after we rode Palmer Park this Saturday. I laid the bike over twice in slow speed crashes but I am not sure exactly. Its had lots of rock strikes at Dakota, Moab, GJ, Palmer over the years. Makes me a little wary of carbon.

The bike was on the hitch rack a couple of weeks ago in a roll over car accident. See more about that here. http://forums.mtbr.com/santa-cruz/nomad-c-gen-2-cracked-rear-triangle-965014.html A local shop said it was good to go but five rides later its cracked, could be unrelated or could be totally connected to the accident. Its possible that the bike could be covered under my insurance policy, that would be the best option. If SC has a rear end that would be my second favorite option. If neither of those work I will use Altitude Composites and have them repair it and post it here.

Nobody's talking warranty, no fault crash replacement is a totally different deal. Appreciate your zeal but I couldn't try and get a warranty for that. I would pay for the new rear from SC, but they may not have the part to buy because they have moved to a new generation of frame. Because they may not have parts for a 3 year old frame under the no cost crash replacement they may offer me a new generation at a discounted price. They also may not. No warranty here. Also a local Santa Cruz dealer evaluated the frame so its not like I am pulling the wool over anyone's eyes. SC is aware of what happened.

Also the chain stay clearly made contact with something at Palmer Park. The scratches weren't there before Saturday. The crack could have nothing to do with the crash and could be totally new.

Thanks for that. Nothing like folks jumping to wrong conclusions on the web. I guess I didn't state that I was looking at no fault crash replacement clearly. I assumed people would get that. Guess that's what I get for posting to much personal information.

You're welcome, I just don't believe how you go about it is anybody else's business. Especially with such a disrespectful call out out he did. And I see he hasn't deleted his inappropriate post as a I requested.

I think if people publicly declare they are doing something unethical or illegal on the web they invite people to comment on it. Or in my case, make an assumption that people will understand on a public forum I invite comments. However that doesn't excuse people from tactful and respectful interactions in the way they approach things.

I also noticed he edited his post and pulled the part about warranty out of it.
