This frame came up locally near me. Is it worth picking up and turning into a little side project? Sorry, don’t know much about these. What would one pay for one of these frames? Thanks in advance!

The Cannondale Prophet is a great bike. It was ahead of its time in terms of geometry and capability. Not on par with modern bikes, but still a reliable bike for most trails if built up well. I own a prophet and still ride it. I can keep up with my buddies on their newer bikes on most trails. I have thousands of miles on it riding mostly in the western US in Montana and Utah.

Ahead of it's time for sure, with a 1.5" headtube and adjustable geometry. Ancient geometry and suspension by today's bikes, but if you already have parts for it or donor bike then it could be fun. It can run 27.5" wheels in the "low" setting, but you'll need to find a rear wheel that has an old school QR hub. Can only run a traditional seatpost or a dropper with an external cable. I bet that shock is toast though and it wasn't very good even when it was new LOL

Thank you for the replies. Was it originally made for 26” wheels? I wouldn’t mind going the 27.5 route, but not if it’s too difficult with this frame.

What are scrap yards paying for aluminum there?

It can accommodate a 27.5 rear wheel, but only up to like 2.35(?) 2.4? And you have to run the rear chip in XC mode, which makes the HTA like 69*. You can slack the front end by strapping a 10 or 20mm longer fork, but the bottom bracket height gets pretty up there after adding a longer fork and bigger wheels. I had one I ran as a “mini-mullet” 27.5f/26r, over forked by 10mm. It was a fun bike for the time.
wow shiny. Those UK guys are good at polishing.

Nah.

It's a nice Cannondale alu frame. I don't know what a reasonable price is. The market for this is probably small. That doesn't mean that there isn't anybody out there who's willing to pay "everything" to get this beauty. Some hundred bucks, probably closer to 200-300 than to 600. Also depends on the shape of the shock. 100 would be a steal. What's the seller asking?
At least this model doesn't use a pull shock. Almost bought a used Jekyll frame for cheap before I realized...that said, I wouldn't pay a whole lot for this one either unless you have a bin of spare older parts to throw on it.
