Ok, judge me if you want, but I'm turning an old Jekyll 3000 into a 69er....because apparently I huffed a little too much paint in my youth?
So, I found an Ocho and I've got the KP205 reducer kit. First question: the bevels on the bearings face away from the headline, correct?

Also, I've got the fork, reducer kit, brake mounts. My current brakes (older IS mount XT) will either need replacement or an adapter. Is there a reason I can't just replace the caliper with another Shimano caliper that's post mount? Or should I just get a matched lever/caliper set?

I know I'll need a new stem/cap and until I hunt down a lefty60 29" wheel, I've got the rotor spacer to run my 26" wheel (and maybe a lefty 50 29" wheel of I don't find a lefty 60 wheel)

Is there anything I'm forgetting?

I have one in hand, just a little uneasy to be using an adapter when the brake mount is already not permanently attached to the fork. Maybe I'm just being overly cautious?
If Cannondale doesn't strictly exclude the use of adapters with it, then I'd try it. I can't remember if they made dedicated Ocho mounts for each rotor size. Plan a better setup for the future though. A decent front brake shouldn't cost too much.

I just flipped through the owners manual and didn't see anything, I'll look a bit more closely though.
To my knowledge, Cannondale only made a 160mm and 180mm stoplock mount, both in post mount. Funnily, I wound up with both as the Ocho I bought included a 160, but didn't list it in the ad.

Well, I did something bad to the Jake because it's hemmorhaging fluid from the bottom damper bolt. Figured it's as good a time as any to get this show on the road. Gonna run it with my current brakes and adapter for now and upgrade brakes later. I'm running older, but not as old as the frame, 4 piston XT calipers and matching levers. I should be able to use the levers with a newer/upgraded Shimano caliper, right?
