At 6'3" I have always been between sizes when looking at bikes and have , in the past, always opted for the smaller bike.I did this again when I bought my Orange El Comandante and it felt fine although I realised I had a heap of seatpost showing and that my saddle was a little too far back on the rails.
On top of this I had wanted to try a Jones bar which would have meant a far too long stem for my liking.
Well I finally got my bigger frame yesterday along with some H-bars to "trial".

Sexy Electric (I prefer Candy Apple) Red (I was truly not keen on this colour until I saw it in person).

Matching Ventana fork is on its way and my new wheelset should be completed by the end of next week (Hope Pro II hubs laced to Sun DS2 rims via DT Champion spokes)

I never thought much of the red until a local got an El Cap that color. Wow is it gorgeous in person. With silver bits it is just tasty.

Did you go 19"-21", or 21"-23" I'm interested in your riding impressions comparing the longer and shorter frames.

I have gone 20' - 22". This is only a .7" difference in TT so it may not be a huge change.
Unfortunately I only got her built up last night and have not had a chance to ride her yet.
hopefully I will manage to get out on her for a shake down ride this afternoon.
Mind you I will also trying to sort out that H-bar too so it may take a while for me to really get a good impression.

NICE TR....i had no idea you had it coming...LOVE the color.

I too have a 20/22 on my Comandante. I find it to be perfect for me.

Besides the color, the only difference between our bikes I think is the top tube angle.....I had mentioned to Sherwood I really like a lot of slope on the top tube but it probably has no impact on the ride.

congrats!
Nice bike! I'm sure it will look even nicer with the matching fork. I have "Spice Red" Soma Juice, and i too wasn't a red bike fan unitl I saw it in person. Enjoy.
Very nice! You should find the H-Bars really comfortable too, let us know how you get on...
Just back from a couple of hours at my local trails and must say that I am VERY happy with my new larger bike.
I managed to achieve my usual level of slowness in the tight, technical stuff and possibly climbed better than on the old bike.
On top of this I have approximately 2" less exposed seat-tube and nearly an extra 1" of TT which allows me a more comfortable position and less of that feeling of sliding off the back of my saddle all the time.
The H-bar is fantastic too and I think I am going to struggle to hand it back in a couple of weeks until I can get one from JJ.

I am a VERY happy TR!!
hey TR, where did u get that bike stand from? the one that holds the wheel.

I think my LBS over here in Oz will be too far for you to travel but it is just a roadie stand so you should be able to get one at your LBS.
I can't believe you didn't tell me about this, you let me find out over the internet...

Looks sweet, don't let me test ride this one with the H-bars, I'm still getting over the last test ride...
