you have to get to the arizona canal from either dreamy draw (best option) or tatum. head east on az canal and you can
a) hit 48th st south to the crosscut canal until that ends and make your way over to the armory and in the west side of papago.
b) keep going east on the canal until 64th(?) where you can pick up another canal that takes you into the east side of papago.

a little trial and error and this map should help. or someone who knows the street names could chime in.
