I'll be spending this weekend in Niagara Falls, but I have to work (in Toronto) on Monday, so I don't get a long weekend, and instead I have one isolated day off on Tuesday. I currently have no plans. I've been poking around for good Canada Day celebrations, but nothing has really caught my eye. Any good celebrations you can point me towards?

Weather permitting, I will probably end up going for a ride during the day. Where should I go? Anybody else planning some interesting rides?

I love Canada Day, its the best holiday, everyone seems to be in a good mood. I got the monday off so the long weekend is great but I have to work the Tuesday.

I'm thinking riding an '07 Squeezer-ish type route, stringing together the St. Kitts trifecta (12 mile, Short Hills and top of the escarpment). If anyone wants to come along let me know.

I have Monday off instead of Tuesday as well. Looks like I'm doing a road ride on Sunday, so as long as those guys don't kill me, an MTB ride on Monday would be fun.

I am off Friday to Wednesday. Hopefully I will be donating a pint or two of my plasma to the monster mosquitos living on the trails in the Caledon Hills.

It's the best-named holiday, but the stupidest one.

They really need to start moving it to the first Monday in July. Does the specific date really matter? Having a holiday potentially fall on a Wednesday is a farce!

Because of this year's July 1st shenanigans, I've volunteered to work it. Mo' money, less problems!

Best way to celebrate Canada is to get away from the crowds and go where they don't care.

It used to be trips to Bromont. Easy to get campsites, no beer store line ups, and no crowds.

This year will be a long weekend down to Sun Valley to sample some of the best singletrack on the planet.

I was volunteered to work Canada day…My only day off is this Sunday, if anyone wants to hit up some trails Sunday, Im in
I might take you up on that offer. My last Sunday as a single man should be spent riding. Might be the last time I can just tell the woman what I'm going to do on the weekend, rather than ask permission!

Any thoughts as to where to ride?

Google tells me that is over 130km away from Humber. I've heard the trails are excellent though.

Im pretty open to location. What about you? any preferences?
If there are others going to 3 stages/Kolapore it might be nice to have a guide, however gas corruption, I mean the price of gas may incline me to stay local (Keslo or Hilton) Or maybe even the Don. Was there last weekend, and really liked enjoyed the trails...excellent work by the trail crew in the Don.

Cheers

I'm self-employed so I have my choice of days off - just don't get paid - there's always a catch. I cancelled camping in Algonquin due to weather and illness in the party. Instead will do a few days of riding - Buckwallow on Sunday and either Buckwallow or Hardwood Hills on Monday - Casino Rama on Sunday night. Hopefully the weather will stay semi-decent - have a great weekend everybody!

Kelso/Hilton Falls sounds good to me. I went to Hilton Falls the other day, and the bugs have finally subsided. Lots to explore in the back there that I haven't seen yet.
