I saw the same article, but know nothing about this CA or the trails. Would be great if the trails are good, and horse traffic and damage minimal. Hope to get over there to check it out, but likely not till later this Fall.

My experience is MDC does not know how to build trails, most are fall line stuff and no one maintains them after they are built. But there are exceptions, including the one at Poosey. Of course, that has the Green Hills group behind it.
We didn't make it to Cannan this wknd. Instead we rode the green trail at Binder Lake, some sandy trails at the Noren river access and 14 miles of the Katy Trail, all at Jeff City. I'll get over to Canaan soon, though.
I've ridden it once, right after memorial day this year, it was real muddy clay and I must have been there shortly after a big horse ride bc there were tons of horse tracks on the trail... I live in the Mt. Sterling area, do you guys know of any other local trails?
Missouri_MTBer, every time I drive down Highway 50 and see those hills in Gasconade County I think "there should be a mountain bike trail here!" Your best bet is Binder west of Jefferson City, that's probably the closest to you and well worth the drive.
I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks that when looking at the hills. There's definitely some nice ones around here. And I'll have to check binder out sometime soon. I've been going out to stl and riding some of the trails around there.
