Threads in a rear mech hanger can be repaired...

...but it will depend on how much material there is around the hole of the hanger as skinny hangers won't work.

Retapping the threads won't work as this often makes the hole wider. Epoxy resin doesn't work either because there is not enough surface contact area.

So, the only two options you are left with are to fit a threaded sleeve or to drill a hole through the derailleur's mounting bolt (where the allen key fits) and use a modified nut and bolt to attach the mech onto the hanger.

I have successfully repaired several mid-90's Trek frames (with non replaceable hangers) using the above two mehods.

Its not the hanger but the derailleur mounting bolt

I had to buy a new hanger because the old one was badly bent, the bolt that attaches the der to the hanger had damaged threads. Jenson USA had a replacement bolt kit for $15, I found that the bolt is held in by a snap ring.
