Pardon my ignorance, but can you cut/trim carbon handlebars? Are there any special ways of doing it?

Yes

Cut them with a thin cutting wheel on a dremel or a grinder. Tape them first and score the tape with a razor, then cut outside the score marks. Wear a mask, its dusty. Go easy, little at a time, dont burn through it or force the tool against teh material.

one option...

Clean the fork cutting guide well, pick out the embedded metal pieces
Tape bar with masking tape centered over cut, 3-4 wraps should do
Line up cut in middle of tape, put in guide carefully, just enough to hold the bar
Use a very fine tooth hacksaw 25-35 tpi
Cut very slowly by allowing the weight of the saw to do the work, NO forcing
Slow down at the end
Sand with a fine grit to finish.

Cracking sounds are very bad, be careful

I cut mine with a dremel. No taping or scoring needed. It takes 10 seconds

I cut some once with a hacksaw. It came out fine until the tree/rock/concrete broke them.

Thanks for the help everyone. I just trimmed my bars and they'r perfect now.
