Sauser gushed about his equipment: “Today we got brand new Epic bikes with integrated cranks and the bike is so light again - it's under nine kilos,” he said.
Sauser is talking about his Epic after his Mnt SNow win. what is this integrated crank??

I assume he is talking about the newer cranks that have been out for approx 2 or 3 years now where the bottom bracket spindle is integrated with the driveside crank arm and the actual bearings are external to the cranks. Shimano was the first to do this and I know Race Face and Truvativ have followed suit. This type of crank is an evolution from the ISIS bottom bracket design because of problems with premature wear due to limited space for the bearings.

I've just been at the World Cup at Mont St. Anne.
Sauser, Killeen & Lakata were running an integrated Specialized Carbon (Road?) Crank with a 2x9 setup.

The rest of the components were pretty weight-weenie also, syntace stem & bars, Stans rotors, bolt-tuning, AX-Lightness seatpost etc...
