Got a new shock coming in, and am wondering if I could simply remove the mounting hardware from the Float and install it on the DHX. Or, would it be easier to simply by new hardware altogether? I'm down for whichever is easiest! Please educate...

Yes, you can reuse it. They're often press fit, so you'll need some tools to remove.

Yes, the stock fox ones are a very tight fit. Fox recommend using an ez-out to grip them internally, but this scars the bore.

I have a set of snub-nose pliers where the clearance around the wire-cutter is a very good fit on the outside of the hardware. I use these to grab the outside of the reducer and wiggle it out.

They look like these and fit well enough to leave no marks on the reducers:
