Will a Fisher Rig accept an external bearing type bottom bracket? I want to run strong 180mm cranks.

Yes. I use the Truvative GXP no problems.

Buy a Phil and some square taper cranks - Middleburns (RS-7s have a lifetime warranty) or White Industries. FWIW, x-ternal BBs don't seem to have a very positive rep.

I have rounded out 3 pairs of square taper cranks. They hold up ok for me on a full-suspension, but on a hardtail they just dont last.
