My bike came with Tektro IO disc brakes which I might want to upgrade. Would changing the rotor improve anything (would it even work)? Or do I have to upgrade the whole unit?
Edit- And is 160mm the largest size for mechanical discs? All larger models I've found so far are hydraulic.
You can swap like size rotors but it wouldn't make much improvement in anything other than weight. Minuscule improvement at that. Upgrade to caliper the Avid BB7's.
You would be better off changing to new calipers....depending on your budget there are a lot of options. You should be able to use the rotors you already have. Hydraulic is definitely a better setup.
go with a magura product.......they really stand behind their products
