Can I put a 550x2.35 spring on my Heckler?

I'm a newb when it comes to full suspensions but I have a Heckler that has the Fox DHX 5.0 rear shock on it with a 400x2.45 spring. It was supposed to come with a stiffer spring but the shop messed the order up, blah, blah, blah, etc... Anyway, my buddy has a 550x2.35 spring that he said he will give me but I am not sure if it will work. Can anyone help?

I'm 280lbs if it helps.

If it's a DHX spring it will work.

uh...
...the new spring has a shorter stroke, it might coil bind

i would just get a new spring.

Heckler's come w/ a 2.25" stroke shock so 2.35 will work as long as you don't go overboard on the spring preload. Some shock manufactures run spring strokes almost the same as the shock strokes.

if its a 2.25 stroke shock, the 2.35 spring will work fine
