Having read the posts on long cage vs medium, I want to use a medium cage x.9 with my 11-34 and 22/32/44 xt crank.

Is this doable if I do not drop my chain into the 22 up front and down past the 20? I never go past #4 in the back while in the small ring up front; I believe the so-called #4 is a 24.

I am fairly certain that will be fine, just dont go to combinations like big/big or small/small.
