Got a Truvative FireX, I can't upgrade for less than $300+, so I'll keep it till it dies.

Can I upgrade the bolts to self-extractors? I don;t know if the available kits actually fit the threads of 15 year old cranks.

FireX ISIS and FireX GXP are two different animals. GXP self extracting bolt is not compatible with ISIS. For ISIS bolts there may be something available, but not GXP as it is non-drive side only.

update, looks like my ISIS BB is M15, so those kits on the ebay link (I bought both!) do NOT fit.

Meanwhile, I had bought the GXP anyways from Jenson in the gap time between OP and second post, so I chalked it up to impatience and figured they go in my parts bin. But it DOES fit! But they are NOT sold as a pair, I got just ONE set. So off I go to look for another M15 crank bolt!

Your lbs should have a crank bolt. They are kinda dime dozen things. Pretty sure I have a few hanging out in one of my parts bins.

tons. Not self extracting. In fact, this project started specifically because my LBS (the best in the area for MTB) specifically said they did not have the parts.
