My boyfriend hits trails in the Dallas area. As a birthday gift I'd like to get him so sort of bike gadget to accessory. He mentioned a seat shock would make the ride more comfortable. Sure...no problem...except I don't know anything about bikes.

To pick out a seat shock-

Does it matter what type of bike he has?

Is there a brand you recommend? Anything I should stay away from?

Do I need to get him the shock and the seat or can he use his current seat?

Also, I've seen some sites call a seat a saddle - is that the same thing?

Any guidance would be so helpful!!

+1 for the thudbuster. I put one on my wife's bike. She loves it.

Some bikes have unusual sized seat posts, particularly older frames. You can then buy a narrower seatpost and buy a shim to bring it up to size.

The size should be written on the bottom of the seatpost. You will need to take it out of the frame to find it.

Best of luck.
