Hey every one. I'm going with a few friends up to tahoe this weekend to ride North Star and Downieville (First time to both :D). I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions for campsites near Trukee or Northstar. any suggestions would be great. thanks.

I asked around when up there for opening weekend, and eventually ended up at this one. About 15 min from downtown Truckee, privetly owned, uber clean, really nice camping neighbors, and quiet. Even better is that there's fantastic little cross country rides to do right from the campsight (cross the stream). Speaking of the stream, the nicest campsites are all right on the stream. They take reservations, so you'll definetly want to make them.
Details all here:

The campground at Alder creek is definitely a nice one, and near the Emigrant trail that goes towards Stampede reservoir.

If you want something close to N* but more basic, check out Martis Creek Lake campground, http://www.spk.usace.army.mil/organizations/cespk-co/lakes/martis.html. Camping is $12. 25 campsites available on a first come, first served basis. Campsites have a parking space, picnic table, tent pad(s), firering and barbecue grill. Water faucets and vault restrooms with running water are also provided. No electricity available. 530-587-8113

thanks for all the campsites. I REALLY want to explore all of Tahoe's trails, but my friends is set on DH only (live in Marin so its good to get some down hill sessions sometime) so its northstar and downieville. Next trip i'm gonna start exploring the TRT and beyond. thanks for all the suggestions though.
