I find it outstanding. Rides like an ML-7, only a little 'more' in every way.
Climbs well, almost as well as the 7, and goes downhill like a madman.
However, if this is going to be your only bike, you ought to consider the ML-7. My 8 weighs about 29 lbs with stout wheels and appropriate 2.4" tires. My 7, with lighter wheels and tires can go down to about 26 lbs.
it won't be my only bike. have an xc hardtail and a jumpy hardtail so want something for all day playing about .
do you find that you can ride it all day(5/6 hours) no problem?
get both, if i had to choose, i would complement my hardtail with the ML8, since i can ride the hardtail for longer smoother days, and for the ruff stuff, theres 6.5" or rocking rear ride!
