I searched without much luck so could someone answer this question or post a link to an old thread about it. My mountain bike has the cables and brake line running under the main tube and my bike carrier supports the bike there. If I put a towel between the cables and the tube am I good to go or can I damage the brake hydraulic line with the compressive force? If I can't then what carriers to people typically use with this kind of bike that attach to the hitch?

you'll want to get one of these. It goes on top of your top tube between stem and seat post.
