I thought all '06 Salty's (with the exception of the smallest frames) were supposed to have new cable guides on the bottom of the top tube....I just recieved my new '06 Salty tonight (it looks beautiful), but it has the old style cable guides on the top of the top tube....the guides on the bottom was a pretty big selling point to me....what is up? I called Shewood and left him a message and emailed him....honestly, I am pretty disappointed that my frame has the old top mounted guides (to the point I have requested it be sent back and corrected/replaced since I paid for an '06 with the improvements)....my reciept says '06, it has the head badge, why not the improved cable routing????? I don't think I am over reacting........

It is a shame you feel so disappointed that you have the top routed guides. I like the top routed guides Sherwood has used for many years as I can run full length gear cables and they are ready to take an extra cable if you fit a Gravity Dropper. Whether the owners with top routed cables will call the bottom routed mounts an improvement is I feel a matter of taste as functionally the top routed guides give very good cable flow. Your comments only go to show how hard it is to please everyone in every way. If it was my frame it would be built and out on the dirt without a second thought. I hope your dissapointment is turned into enjoyment asap.

Just so you know the Ventana Router is down at the moment and will not be fixed until Monday. Call Sherwood again to discuss as he will not get your email until then. I am sure you will be able to get the issues sorted.

I would also add that as a point of courtesy, I think it is always best to contact the manufacturer first when there is an issue before coming online and blasting away. People are human, mistakes can be made. If they aren't corrected to your satisfaction, then you might have a legitimate issue.

I agree....

I am not blasting...just very disappointed. One of the things I was really looking forward to was the bottom guides because I simply don't like the top mounted ones....don't like the way they look. I have left Sherwood a message and I am sure he will call me back...the only solution I can see is have a new front triangle made.....honestly, it may sound trivial to some, but this feature was a big improvement in my mind and was really looking forward to it...it was the first thing I looked at......cables are like speaker wires...should do their job but should hidden as much as possible in my mind....

I figured disappointment was the motivating factor behind the first post. We all know how excited you were about getting this frame. As for the guide placement, I don't think it is a trivial matter. I'd prefer them on the bottom as well. I just think it is a cleaner look. I saw these on D-Rocks frame and they look great.

Good luck in getting this resolved. While I have not had any frame issues, those who have seem to have been more than happy with Ventana's customer service.

I hope it gets resolved....

the frame looks awesome...the orange 'explodes' even under indoor lighting....the one feature I was stoked about was the new cable guides and being able to 'hide' them under the top tube....I hope it gets resolved. Hopefully later this afternoon I will be posting how great the customer service is at Ventana.....we will see. Sux being without a bike..sold the Blur expecting this one...now I may have even a longer wait ahead of me.

While I don't think that it's the end-all issue in purchasing a bike I totally agree with you that tucking the cables away is the way to go. I never would have thought about it until I owned a (rather nice) hardtail that had the cable routed on top of the top tube and I would always get my shorts caught on the cable stops and the brake (hydraulic) line was always creeping underneath the der. cables. Before that, all of my bikes had always had the cables routed underneath the toptube. It looks cleaner and I've never heard of any issues with routing it underneath??? Anyway, I hope you get it resolved. I'm sure they'll take care of you-
