Burner vs Truth plus sizing

Hello my fellow trailheads,

being new to this forum and from Germany (both doesn't disqualify for posting, hopefully), I really have trouble to deside on a new bike. I narrowed it down to Ellsworth Truth and Turner Burner. Although I know all the bad rep of Ellsbeth, as I'd like to call it, it is a very goodlooking and lightweigt bike plus it features a longer top tube. Coming from a Merlin softtail, this is really something to think about. Another thing that puts Elli in front is the better looks due to the less dropping top tube.

Being a giant (5'6'') I'd have to decide between a small or medium Turner, but the small bike just doesn't look balanced, or so I think. So I am very confused what to do! Please help me making the right decision!

And finally could anyone be so kind to measure the seat tube length of a small or a med. Burner and post it. If so, could you even post the measures between the center of the bb and the top of the top tube, plus center bb to end of seattube.

Thanx everybody for your posting. It will help a lot!

BTW: Does anyone know, if Supergo sells the frame without a shock? I'd like to go for the new DT Swiss, with is announced to be the best airshock ever.

Kind regards an much fun with all your Burners (and Elli's of course)

If you haven't check out Turner's Burner Specs, take a minute and see if it answers any of your questions. Also, peeps typically get much better information regarding sizing and frame fitting, whether from here, the LBS or Turner, if they can provide some correctly taken body measurements, particularly height and inseam, as shown here at Colorado Cyclist's website.

As far as the whole Ellsworth debate... well... I personally wouldn't buy an Ellsworth, especially a Truth, with all the warranty and customer service issues. It might be naive, but I'll take my chances (so to speak) with Turner.
Thanks and question

Hi,

thank you for your input. Unfortunately, Turner doesn't specify the seattube length on their site, or am I just too blind?

Well, I followed through the whole Elli debate and it makes me really unhappy to read about all those bad experiences, but I was hoping, that the 04 version is built to last (they've got a couple of good examples now, where the frame was weak, don't they ;-). But you are right, Turnes are probably more solid.

BTW, as you seem to be quite proficient on the Turner theme, one more question: I saw a beautifull white Burner on this board, but they don't do those anymore, do they?

Thank you so much & happy trails!

You're right, the site doesn't specify the seat tube length.

Are you looking for the actual seattube length or the effective seattube length? Are you trying to determine how much seatpost will be exposed?

Can you provide your inseam measurement to us? Not your pants inseam, but the actual inseam as described at coloradocyclist.com.

Sorry, can't help you with the seattube length. I'm riding a Spot.

The white frame I believe is a RFX not a Burner. As far as I know, Turner has never provided Burners in white. Not stock anyway, maybe a special order. Either way I dig the white too.
Measures seatpost

Hi, so far thanks everybody for your advice. Could anyone out there provide the seattube measures of a medium or a small burner/5spot? I am interessted in both, the lenght of the seattube from the center of the bb to the top of the seat tube as wellas the lenght measured from the center of the bb to the top of the top tube.

Could anyone be so kind?

Thanks very much!
