Build trail in mtns near Boulder - loop linking to Sourdough - SAT, JULY 22

Here's the text of the Boulder Mountainbike Alliance newsletter. For those of you that don't know, there's a whole helluvalot of trail opening up to bikes in the Brainiard lake area over the next couple of years. Time to do some good work for the Forest Service to show them we apreciate the opportunities. Come on out if you can.

HELP! Volunteers needed to build a new trail for bikes!

Raw, burly, tough and interesting.... That's what's being used to describe the Little Raven Trail. Last year the Boulder Ranger District agreed, after our lobbying the USFS, to open the Little Raven and Waldrop Trails near Brainard Lake to mountain bikes. We told the Boulder Ranger District that mountian bikers were looking for more challenging backcountry singletrack and we were willing to help make that happen.

The BRD listened and slated the Little Raven and Waldrop trails to be opened to mountain bikes. Now it's time for s to do our part.

On Saturday, July 22, we'll be improving the ride on the Little Raven Trail. We'll be building alignments through rock fields and constructing local reroutes. The design of the new alignments incorporates natural features of the area to create an interesting and challenging trail. It should be fun and rewarding work.
We'll meet at the Niwot Picnic Ground at the southwest end of Brainard Lake at 8:30 Saturday.morning. There' will be lunch, refreshments, and schwag. Temperatures will be much cooler at 10,000 feet as well. Bring strdy shoes, work gloves, sunscreen and something that carries your water.

We need volunteers to build this technical trail. Registration required to get a free pass into the project area.

Contact Eric Vogelsberg at [email protected] to sign up.

NOTE: Registration is lower than usual. Please come if you can and/or send this email to your friends!

Sorry I've got to miss this one. Worked up there the last two summers though!

Anyone want to do a Sourdough/Waldrop/SSV ride sunday morning? I'll be up at the north Sourdough trailhead out of Peaceful Valley CG about 9am.

I'm somewhat new to the area, so looking forward to getting sweaty building and riding a new trail. (Ridden south, but never north, from the road).

Edemtbs, if I remember I'll throw in a VCR tape before I leave. If not, the recap gets interesting around 7 pm and a couple beers.
