Did some hiking out there on Saturday and based on what I saw, I wouldn't waste my time. Still plenty of 12"+ deep drifts in shaded areas. IMO, Buff Ck. trails are still several weeks away from being rideable.

Update: Just got back from BC. I rode strawberry jack, charlies cut-off, homestead, sandy wash, baldy. Conditions were great (except for the wind!), most of the singletrack is 90 to 100% dry. Baldy was the only singletrack with significant snow and it was all rideable. The fireroad between sandy wash and baldy still has some icy sections that must be walked.

Hopefully the new weather we're getting doesn't have much of an impact.

I rode Shinglemill >CT>tramway yesterday. CT is mostly dry with sections that are wet with ice. I rode on top of the ice and riding the decomposed granite soil when wet is not big deal since it drains so well. I walked a couple sections where the soil is more organic back where there are aspen. As long as you stay on the trail (There were some tire tracks going around the icy sections) and walk any places where you leave ruts I wouldn't recommend against riding that section.

Since they have more shade, are higher in elevation and the soil tends to be more organic, I would guess that the CT above the Tramway intersection and Green Mtn are not ready.

My friend lives down there and said it won't be ready to ride for the weekend :madman:
No we did not get 8 inches of snow down here, 3 inches at the most. And its melting away very quick. If you want to come down to ride tomorrow, tonight, Sunday, go for it. Like i said its melting at a fast pace....
But we definitely did not get 8 inches. I call B.S. on your friend. :nono:

What ever snow that fell, fell on bare, warm ground and will melt fast in the areas that get a lot of sun. The shady stuff will be a slower to melt out.

As dry as it's been down there, I wouldn't complain about any moisture that comes through.

How do you know it's melting away quickly, aren't you supposed to be in class? Do I have to have another talk with your parents?
