Do not park at the Pine Grove Trailhead...instead keeping going south on 126 till you cross the South Platte River. Just ahead on your left is the ranger station...park there.

From the parking lot cross the road to 543. 543 is a nice jeep road which leads to a great network of trails. If only out there for a few hours I would suggest maybe riding up Baldy and going down Charlie's Cutoff to Sandywash. Sandywash is a really fun downhill with great views. At the bottom of Sandywash stay left and continue on Sandywash before 543. There is a fun little offshoot that takes you further down 543.

Then take Sandywash back to 543 and to the parkinglot.

Either that or take 543 all the way to the Gashouse Trailhead and ride down part of Gashouse before going up Baldy. If you want to add a few more miles to your ride. In fact that is the way I would go if I only had 3 hours to ride.

What I do is park at Pine Valley, ride up Buck Gulch to Skipper then across to Sandy Wash and down this to the 543 road. I ride up 543 to Baldy and up Baldy to Miller Gulch. I ride Miller Gulch to the trail that leads to Charlies Cut Off ( Strawberry at that point?) because Charlies is too fun to miss, then back onto Homestead and finally down Strawberry and down the last bit of Buck Gulch to the Pine Valley road and the parking lot.

This is about 22 miles.

How many cars will you have?

A VERY fun way to do it is to leave a car at the ranger station and one at the crossing of CT across 126. Start here, ride CT to Shinglemill to Morrision creek to 543 to Tramway, right on CT, through the campground on CT, right on 543, quick left on forest road (don't recall the number but its obvious), right to Gashouse TH up to Baldy juction continue left to Millers, Homestead, Charlies cutoff (VERY fun) right all the way back down Sandy, left on 543 back to car at ranger station.

This is by far my preferred route in BC but its all good stuff. If you're looking for more, throw Green Mountain into the above loop.
