Welcome to mountain biking.... Get some shin pads for trails. i love them because you dont get scratched from every stick on the trail and also keeps me from bruising. If it's happening in an urban setting and you don't want to be teased just ride it out.

My advice is don't worry about it you will toughen up.

keep your legs loose. you may be gripping the saddle with your thighs and not noticing it. You can take a mental image of riding iwth your legs spread a little and that will help you to ride looser.

yes, I know that sounds bad.
