Thinking I may head over early tomorrow or thursday morning (better forecast for those days) and check this side of the Fraser Valley out.

Anyone done the stuff on that side? Better stuff than that? Worth checking out, or just stay on the resort/Fraser side?

It's either there, or an excursion up to Searle and Kokomo passes.

i've ridden some of it during the WP fat tire festival. the latitude 40 map i have, shows devils thumb as hiking only. i could be wrong. high lonesome is high and lonesome, good stuff.

what is the searle and kokomo pass ride like, have you done it?

part of DT is wilderness, part isn't. guess i'll find out.

haven't done searle/kokomo yet. i've heard good things though.

Both High Lonsome and Searle/Kokomo are great high altitude rides. Devils Thumb does head into wilderness (Indian Peaks?) but not until way up high and miles past the intersection with the High Lonsome trail. Scrublover check your email.

Check out Caribou / Strawberry Creek

I was in Winter Park last weekend and decided to find something different in the area since everything west of Fraser was being taken up by the race on Sunday. I heard about a great trail called Strawberry Creek and my buddy and I gave it a shot. If you head toward Tabernash and exit Hwy 40 just before it curves into town, take CR 129 up into the hills. A few miles up is a trailhead for Strawberry Creek. The first few miles of the trail are maintained for horses and hunters, but then the next 10 miles or so to Strawberry Lake on West Strawberry Trail are some of the best "unmaintained" single track I have ever seen in the area. We were shocked the entire time that the trail was so good and yet it looked like no one ever goes back in there. Combine this with Caribou trail and you have yourself a great out-and-back with a small loop. We didn't have time, but you could go from Caribou over to the High Lonesome trailhead and take that all the way down into Fraser.

Check it out. You won't be dissapointed.
