Broken axle 2012 RM Slayer

My rear through axle on my Slayer broke. There is a pin inside the axle that sheared off in the middle, leaving the axle still in the hib with no way to unscrew. I know I need a new axle but, is there an easy way to remove it. I have thought of removing the swing arm and turning them to unscrew the axle. Sounds like it would work. Any one have any ideas. Thanx
