Bring your passion to Bend, Oregon

If this is spam, I apologize! I am the owner of Cog Wild, the local mountain bike tour company from Bend, Oregon.

My reason for writing is that we have a great four day camping mountain biking tour up in the Cascade Mountains taking place August 26-29. For some strange reason we only have two people signed up. And we can't do this tour for just two people. I don't want to cancel the tour and ruin their vacation, which would bum us all out, them especially.

So that is why I am posting here. This is an invitation to come to Bend, Oregon and ride awesome cross country singletrack for four days, camping next to a crystal clear alpine lake and eating phat meals!

The price is normally $720 per person which includes everything but a bike, tent and sleeping bag. This means all local transportation, personalized routes, three meals and snacks, local guides and more! You also get a Cog Wild t-shirt and pint glass! As a thank you for helping us out, my business partner and I would like to reduce the price to $550 for anyone who calls us having seen this forum posting. We honestly are not interested in making a profit on this trip, we just want to ensure we don't have to cancel the tour!

Check it out on our site here: http://www.cogwild.com/bike_tours/multi_day_tours_oregon.html#Cascade_Lakes_bike_tour
Thank you for letting us post this here and come ride!!!

Nice choice of routes Mel! Not the usual Phil's Triangle that all the visitors do. There's nothing like a little local knowledge, is there?

Somebody ought to take up your offer.

Thanks Nat! Those are great photos! Here is one more, although not from biking, but I love how it shows the water. This is Sparks Lake, one of the lakes we drive by and have a chance to swim in!

Nice pic. It really shows how clear the water is. We went swimming in Elk Lake last weekend, and the water was a little cool but once the temps got up to 80 it felt great.
Happy Weekend all - just wanted to check back and see if anyone is thinking about joining us... did I mention that we stop at Deschutes Brewery on our way out of town to ensure good brews for the trip! And... we can also stop at one of the other 5 breweries if anyone has a preference!
:)
I'd have to fly with my bike/gear/camping stuff from Dallas. Does the regional air transport from Portland have issues with over sized baggage? Yeah, I could take the shuttle bus from Portland, but the scheduling doesn't really work for me.
Alaska/Horizon and United fly into to Redmond (RDM), the Bend airport. Here is the link for Alaska for info on over sized bags: http://www.alaskaair.com/as/www2/help/faqs/CheckedBaggage.asp. Horizon especially always is very cool and helpful - they even have complementary beer and wine on their flights!
Also, to make the flights work, the last night you might want to stay in a hotel in Bend. We can organize that for you too. Both other people on the trip are doing that, so you potentially you would have people to check town out with that evening!
Give me some gass money and stay quiet :)

And I will take you on some better trails....:) Just kidding. That is a great deal for an ever better price.

I am gonna have to look into that. The wife and I are thinking of moving to Oregon, so why not start checking it out now :)
Geddy, you won't regret it if you o this trip.
I used to live in a town 150 miles south of Bend (Klamath Falls), but played & worked up near Bend. I've lived, ridden, or worked in Oregon, northern Calif., Montana, Alaska, Nevada, & AZ., & can tell you you won't find sweeter country anywhere.

You got that right, Vance. I was just up in Sun river, and I almost cried when I thought about leaving, and coming home to ride in AZ. We have good riding here, it's just nowhere near as nice as Oregon.

This would give you four days of not just riding, but with locals who can let you know all about the housing and job market, social scene, biking season, etc.... And you will then also know about a lot of trails that even locals don't ride!

Sounds like a great time! I am thinking about signing up!

I will be down there by the end of summer...

Bend riding is top shelf. I live about a 6 hour drive so spending another weekend in Bend is cool with me. Thinking September. Have to cut my teeth on some of our fine goods right now though...........

How far is Coos Bay from Bend?
I got realitives in Coos Bay. Maybe I could stay with them, and ride with you.
Oh wait. I got no more vacation time.
DAMMIT!
So many beautiful trails in the west and northwest. I envy you all.
yes, we are quite lucky with our trails. Most of the thanks needs to go to our community since we maintain them ourselves.
Are you coming to ride???
