"Avid BB7, juicy7, juicy5, elixir, etc will work fine. Question is how much power do you want or need? You don't have any specifics listed in your profile for the bike you are riding. Recommendations are likely to vary some depending on your bike. ... "

Lots of good brakes out their. Lots of people posting their favorites. Better advice with a more details.
Personally, I like hydraulic disks, but plenty of people swear by cable disks like the avid bb7, and a few still stick by rim brakes."

looking for best brakes, price not a concern, for 260 pound all mountain type riding
What more do you guys really need to know?
1. Clydsdale forum/260 lb. rider = needs something pretty strong to slow his big-boy sled and big body down.
2. All-mountain = not just flat xc stuff - he's doing some drops, climbs, descents, rock gardens, roots - again, gotta have some stoppers with some meat.
3. Best brakes at any price = willing to pay for the awesomeness of Hope or Formula for example with the added goodness of oversized rotors. "Best" brakes for this rider in my opinion have to be high quality hydraulic discs - even the best cantis/cable pull discs/average mass produced hydraulics can't compete with top-of-the-line hydraulic discs (properly set-up of course). I've tried them all. They all seem satisfactory until you actually spend some time riding a bike with something like the Formula Ones I recommended - they have the power and modulation I experienced only on my motorcycles.
